Notes from the Tulip House

Turkey Day!

Thanksgiving table setting

A belated Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow U.S. citizens!  Above is a peek at my table setting for our T-day dinner.  I had plans to make some homemade napkin rings but that project did not turn out as imagined, so, at the last minute I substituted with some bronze rings and sprigs of wheat.  The napkins, tablecloth, and placemats are from Target, (Shh, don’t tell.)  And, the vintage china we inherited from the Mister’s family.

We had a small celebration this year, just my two fellas and the Mister’s brother.  I did all the cooking and we had tons of food!  Yikes, leftovers anyone?  Turns out Little Bug LOVES Turkey and pumpkin pie!

Hope you all had a blessed day!

Although this last piece is not a beach pebble, I felt this stone had a very beachy feel so included it with this “collection.”  Look for these pieces to start arriving in my Etsy store on Friday!

My Wednesday

in pictures,

Quick Pickles

I started my morning by making a jar of homemade “quick” pickles.  I followed this recipe.

After breakfast I packed up Little Bug in the car and took him for a haircut.

At the playground

A couple more errands and a stop at the playground, then we headed back home.

While the little one took his afternoon nap, I ate some lunch and then headed to my bench to work with pebbles.

Bits n Pieces Beach Stone Setting

Just before The Mister came home, I made an applesauce spice cake.  It was really dense and more like bread than cake.  Definitely more moist  after a night in the fridge, but better as a breakfast food than as a dessert.  Recipe here

After cake baking I went for a jog in the park, (did I mention I’m training for a 5k?)  When I got back home we ordered Thai take -out,  put the monkey to bed and then watched Top Chef.

A good day it was.
